"Chinese Antiques Exhibit" at the Bruce Museum — Greenwich, CT

The Bruce Museum of Greenwich received the gift of six Tang Dynasty ceramics from the collection of Fred and Jane Brooks of Greenwich, CT for display at the museum. This generous gift establish the Bruce Museum as an important center for the collecting and study of Chinese antiquities.

The donated works date from the Tang Dynasty (618 – 907 AD) which is regarded as one of the greatest periods of artistic creativity in China. Highlights include a dramatically animated, tri-color glazed ceramic Lokapala, or worldly protector, one of the deities who rule the directions of space according to Hinduism and Vajrayana Buddhism. In addition to the Lokapala, the gift also includes several ceramic Bactrian camels, some of which are decorated with bright clear glazes and brilliant colors including cobalt blue.

"Audubon Greenwich Activities" — Greenwich, CT

Enjoy natural beauty and nature programs minutes from Westchester and downtown Greenwich. "Audubon Greenwich", a 285 acre sanctuary and wild-life center has trails, a lake, ponds, woodlands, and meadows. Situated on the Byram River, the center also offers exhibits, a learning center, arts gallery, and gift shop. Programs include bird walks, workshops, guided hikes, kids' programs, festivals, camps, and school-related programming.

"Nautical Exhibits" — Maritime Aquarium, So. Norwalk, CT

Maritime Aquarium of Norwalk

Explore our important relationship with fish – past, present and future – in “Go Fish! Long Island Sound & Beyond,” a permanent exhibit featuring live local species and interactive displays, at The Maritime Aquarium at Norwalk. Centerpiece of the exhibit is a 30,000 gallon tank stocked with cod, striped bass, Atlantic salmon, tautogs, wolffish, and spiny dogfish sharks. Soon to be added to the tank is an enormous 7 foot Atlantic halibut, the largest species of flatfish on our coast.

Stroll through the aquarium's expanded open floor plan and nautical exhibits. Flowing spaces and passageways are dedicated to a myriad of marine life and showcase everything from stingrays and seahorses, to sand sharks and salty marshes, and also serve as spaces for receptions.

"Art Class" — Stamford, CT

Join Kathie Milliagan's "Art Class & Learn How to Draw Natural Forms of Life". Learn to develop a natural individual drawing style using forms from nature as your subject. Through close observation she will examine various types of organic forms and explore each form's unique qualities. Movement, use of positive and negative space, exaggeration, choice of composition, and employment of light are some of the means of imparting individual character to natural forms. Water color, pencil, pen and ink and charcoal are the materials that will lead us to our discoveries. Wednesday mornings through May 28th from 9:30 am to11:30 am. The cost is $20.00.
